I am working on an art show for Santa Cruz artists to participate in called “The Mona Lisa”
I thought it would be a fun thing to get up to 50 artists to create their version, interpretation or Mona Lisa inspired piece in any medium they choose. So hoping to see some very cool creative work from our very talented local artists!
I am pretty close to finishing up mine and here is a wee little peek at her! We are planning an event at one of the many local wineries here in Santa Cruz! Stockwell Winery has come on board to host it. They have a grand space to hold all the artwork. We are planning a “First Friday” in September tentatively!!
SO keep your eyes peeled to come to the show if your local or I will be posting many photos of all the work after the fact!!

For years, the Artist Guide was sold in stores for $20, with about 3,000 folks picking up a copy. This year, we’re changing how we do business and doing everything it can to monumentally expand the fan base for local artists.
We’ve joined forces Good Times for the 2015 Tour, and with their help we will distribute 40,000 Guides this year. In late September, 35,000 full-color, glossy, magazine-style Guides will be inserted into the Good Times and will be distributed in Monterey and Santa Clara counties – FREE to anyone who picks up a copy. Cue the towering flames! Hear the roar of the crowd.
For fans who miss the September issue of the Good Times, and folks used to the classic system, we’ll have 5,000 Guides available, for just 5 bucks, in outlets throughout September and October. Plus, our Open Studios app has more cowbells, whistles, and functionality than ever.
So Open Studios is coming up in like under 59 days…………..
If you are in Santa Cruz and want to check out the shows! You can get the Artists Guide a bunch of different ways now!
Remember my Artist number is #52 in the guide book!!!!
How to Get Your Hands on the 2015 Artists Guide
I am one of those people who like to do everything creative! My brain swirls with ideas! I can’t sit still and have to be doing something whether it be sewing up some new bag designs, creating some t shirt art design to even cooking!
Now I have added another fun thing which I have not done in ages! I am first and foremost an artist. I took every art class available in High School. Art Classes in College and then my first job was being an Illustrator for an automotive design company in Michigan.
Many of my co-workers would ask me to draw their kids and pets. I was into using color pencils and graphite pencils. Then over the years got into working with clay and then sewing which then became my business.
A few months ago I dug out an unused canvas that was buried in our garage. I thought, “Yea I am gonna start painting!”. I started with one of my favorite subjects. My dogs and chose my number one boy, Finn!
After drawing him onto the canvas, I bought a box set of acrylic paints from our local art supply store and began to paint. I was clumsy and it was very awkward at first. Being use to working with lead pencils back in the day, the paint brush was uncomfortable. I got over it pretty quick and these are my first 3 creations! Ready to buy some more canvas and get to it!! I like to use fun image close ups!
